Post Production Master Class Speakers

glenn-AllenGlenn Allen , Co-Founder/VFX Producer/VFX Supervisor, Brainstorm
After graduating Emerson College in 1991, Glenn Allen quickly established himself as a filmmaker with intense passion for his craft. While working on feature films in various departments, including camera, sound, and props, Glenn was drawn to film editing to hone his storytelling skills.

In 1994, Glenn was hired by Ron Howard as an assistant editor on "The Paper". This 10 year collaboration on Howard's team saw Glenn's skills mature alongside some of the greatest post-production talent in the industry. During his tenure with Howard, Glenn's particular interest in visual effects was sparked while making the Academy Award winning "Apollo 13". Aside from Howard's films, Glenn's keen eye for stunning visual effects was cultivated on notable visual effects pictures such as "Sleepy Hollow" and "Mission To Mars". This specialization led to a more hands-on approach in the cutting room, providing Ron Howard with conceptual ideas for visual effects on "A Beautiful Mind" (Academy Award - Best Picture) and "The Missing". Concurrently, other accomplished Directors such as Brian DePalma, Jonathan Demme, and Frank Oz also recognized Glenn's talent, and quickly enlisted his services on their films.

Glenn's talent as a Visual Effects Producer and Compositor has been recognized on films such as: "The Stepford Wives", "Cinderella Man", "Freedomland", "Man Of The Year",and "The Brave One", starring Jodie Foster. Glenn has also shown his talents as a screenwriter on an independent film, and has written and directed his own award-winning independent feature. Glenn's passion for great storytelling is his motivation for providing filmmakers with visual effects that will enrich thier films and enable them to realize their goals. When he is not working late at the Brainstorm office or chasing his four children around, he is either watching movies or writing screenplays.

Shortly thereafter, he was named Regional Field Service Manager for the Western United States, and relocated to California where he was mainly responsible for service and sales support for the ENG camera and graphics systems products.

In 1983, Terry was hired by Pacific Video (now LaserPacific Media Corporation) as an Engineer and Graphics Specialist. In 1990, Terry became the Chief Engineer. During his 19 years with LaserPacific, he has been instrumental in many of the revolutionary developments at the company including the recent development of the 24P, High Definition Digital Laboratory services.  LaserPacific Media Corporation received a Scientific and Technological Emmy™ award in 2001 for its significant contributions to the creation of the 24P High Definition technology.  Terry was one of the four LaserPacific engineering team responsible for working with 13 manufactures including Sony on 24P technology and workflows.  In October 2001, Terry was promoted to Vice President Engineering, continuing the development of new technology for the television and theatrical film communities.

After 21 years at LaserPacific, Terry resigned his position to pursue new opportunities at Technicolor/Thomson as Senior Vice President, World Wide Technology, relocating back to the east coast in the New York City area.  In this position, Terry was a member of the Corporate CTO office responsible for advancing technology across all four Technicolor business units.  Eventually Technicolor needed Terry full time back in California at which time he made the decision to stay on the east coast and leave the company.

Currently Terry has assumed the CTO position of Mega Playground in New York City with the task of building new businesses and designing the facilities to enable these businesses. Passionate about filmmaking from an early age, Richard attended New York University's film school in the 1980's.
