HD EXPO NOVEMBER SURPASSES ATTENDANCE & EXHIBITS RECORDS
Sony, Apple, Adobe, Panasonic, ACE, ASC and other leaders participate in sold-out event
December 4, 2006 (Burbank, CA) On November 2, Los Angeles-based HD EXPO, the leading entertainment technology show and educational event held in Los Angeles and Chicago, beat all previous registration and booth sales figures from its five-year history. Pre-registration alone was up nearly 25% for the event. Attendance and day-of registration percentages for HD EXPO, which was held at the Universal Hilton, also rose significantly above the pre-registration gains with over 75% of pre-registered attending. More than 3500 attendees gathered for seminars, panels, networking events and the busy exhibition area was filled with leading manufacturers, equipment suppliers, post production facilities, and technology companies including Canon, LaserPacific, Sony, Apple, Panasonic, JVC, Adobe and Miranda.
The view from the exhibit floor was upbeat and busy with attendees throughout the day. Terry Cullen, Founder, CEO of 1Beyond, a leading digital editing systems provider, commented, "We were very impressed with the event and even more so with the quality of attendees. Most meaningful was the percentage of those attendees that were actual buyers. It’s a great audience."
Every HD EXPO features superlative educational offerings delivered by top-tier industry professionals. November 2 panels included presentations in collaboration with the American Cinema Editors, American Cinematographer magazine, and the American Society of Cinematographers. Panelists and presenters included Academy Award winner Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC, Oscar nominee and 2007 ASC Lifetime Achievement recipient Allen Daviau, ASC, Big Love producer Steve Turner, American Cinema Editor President and Academy Award winner Alan Heim, ACE, International Cinematographer Guild President Steven Poster, ASC, and the editors of the summer’s biggest films; Steven Rivkin, ACE (Pirates of the Caribbean II), Mark Helfrich, ACE & Julia Wong (X-Men II), Billy Goldenberg, ACE (Miami Vice), and Jon Ottman (Superman Returns).
HD EXPO Intensives, in-depth sessions sponsored by Apple, Adobe, Matrox and American Cinema Editors, were met with standing-room-only audiences. HD EXPO also debuted a new product, INFO DEPOT, which served as a show guide and as a compendium of white papers and industry observations that will be available online December 4.
In addressing the future of HD EXPO, CEO Kristin Petrovich has set an ambitious 2007 schedule. HD EXPO March, "Delivering the Future", will be held at the Beverly Hilton on March 8 and focuses on the implications of present and future technologies. The third HD EXPO Midwest unfolds at the Navy Pier in Chicago on June 7 and focuses on technology in advertising and broadcast. The flagship show, HD EXPO November expands to a two-day show at the Burbank Marriott and will be held November 7-8. Additionally, 2007 will see the launch of expanded educational offerings, custom workshops and international events.
