HD Expo & Panasonic team up to foster the growth of high definition production

GLENDALE, CA: Since it’s launch in November 2001 HD EXPO teamed with Panasonic as a Platinum sponsor to create a strong high definition community, and now, with the inception of their High Def VaricCam Workshops they hope to encourage the use of high definition programming within the entertainment industry.

HD EXPO and Panasonic’s objective is to educate the production and post production community on the user’s application of the VariCam camera in order to expedite the acceptance, assimilation, use, rental and/or purchase of the Panasonic AJ-HDC27V nationally. Both HD EXPO and Panasonic believe that the need for more resources in the high definition industry is becoming increasingly important; therefore the need for education about the technology and equipment is vital. “The quality of these of workshops are outstanding for our products because the attendees at HD EXPO’s event in Los Angeles are going to be those who are genuinely interested in this technology,” states Jeff Merritt, Product Line Business Manager for Panasonic. “The HD EXPO Varicamp Workshops will be an ideal opportunity to not only spotlight our products but also to educate people in the industry about all that the HD Varicam is capable of doing.”

The workshops, which will last for three days, will provide classes and hands-on training to accomplished DPs or independent cameramen in the use of the VariCam in a working studio and field production environment. Each class is taught by pre-approved Panasonic teaching personnel, and are designed to facilitate approximately 25 students.

The instructors of the HD EXPO "VariCamp" Workshops have extensive experience within the HD production community, from US. Television, Independent films, commercials, documentaries and corporate. "I am so excited and proud of the quality of instructors that are working to create and teach the VariCamp Workshops. Their years of experience and knowledge in the varied areas of production make it an ideal learning environment. Our intention is to have each student leave with a complete understanding of the VariCam, it's uses, technical knowledge, ideal camera support products and one-on-one coaching from the instructors," states Kristin Petrovich, Founder/CEO of HD EXPO Workshops.

HD EXPO is launching five Panasonic VariCam workshops called, “Varicamp” throughout the U.S. Workshops will begin this summer, and will be held in Chicago (August 21, 22, 23), Washington D.C. (October 2,3 & 4), New York (October 16, 17, 18), and Los Angeles (July 24,25 & 26 & January 22, 23, 24 –2004).
