HD EXPO Welcomes Industry Vet Scott Friedland

Record Attendance Expected At Upcoming Event

Glendale, CA – Buoyed by the resounding success and continuing growth of what is becoming the only event for high definition, HD EXPO president and pioneer Kristin Petrovich has added the expertise of Scott Friedland to help produce their next memorable evening. To be held at Gearhouse Broadcast in Burbank, the next HD EXPO will take place on March 6th from 5:00 to 9:30 PM.

The first HD EXPO, held in November of 2001, drew a gathering of 300 participants. That number was doubled at the most recent HD Expo and is on the way to being tripled as more than 800 attendees have already signed up for the upcoming event. “We are very pleased to have Scott Friedland join our team and help us during this exciting time for HD EXPO,” says Kristin Petrovich.

Friedland will serve as the marketing voice for HD EXPO and will also assume the responsibility of Executive Producer. He brings with him years of experience in the entertainment industry. During his time at Pioneer Video in the 80s, he was responsible for launching and marketing the Laser Video Disc technology. In the 90s, Friedland was co-founder and CEO of Big Daddy Productions, producing series television for network and cable, children’s, reality programming and prime-time specials. In addition, he was cofounder of Friedland Jacobs Communications, an advertising agency specializing in entertainment branding, marketing and promotion. Says Friendland, “It is great to be at the crossroads of creative and HD technology. My experience in advertising, marketing and promotions as well as producing television shows and commercials allows me the opportunity to successfully inform the entertainment and advertising industry about the uniqueness of HD EXPO.”

HD EXPO was started by Kristin Petrovich with the goal of creating a venue for the dissemination of the latest trends in the field of High Def and as an outlet for some exemplary programming implementing the rapidly growing technology. Petrovich wanted to bring industry leaders together in an entertaining environment with the aim of creating and fostering an HD community. To better serve this purpose, Petrovich ensures that there is a central gathering hub at each event where all the participants can gather and enjoy the good food and spirits while networking with their peers, building relationships and creating new job opportunities.

To create excitement, Petrovich creates a fun theme for the evening and holds the event in a new and unique location. She peppers every HD EXPO with special touches, such as hula dancers for one tropical themed evening and a stilt walker dressed as Uncle Sam, fitting the patriotic theme of the last event. The theme for March 6th will be “High Def – Mardis Gras.”

Kristin Petrovich has long been an advocate of new technology. She is the President and C.E.O. of KMP & Associates, which represents and manages technical talent for a wide variety of range of film, TV and video projects. Throughout the years, she has provided her expertise serving as a marketing consultant to dozens of production and post-production facilities.

This past fall’s HD EXPO, held at the Production Group Studios, showcased the products and services of the event sponsors as well as lively panel discussions, highlighted by a side by side comparison between the makers of Panasonic’s Vari Cam and Sony’s CineAlta moderated by Carolyn Giardina, editor of Film & Video.
