HD EXPO Hosts Two West Coast Workshops to Foster Growth of HD Production

Burbank, CA – HD EXPO announced today that it will host a special one-day mini-“VariCamp” Workshop, exclusively for members of the ASC on Saturday, December 6, 2003. As with the traditional three-day workshops, this one-day intensive workshop will provide lectures and hands-on training to the American Society of Cinematographers in the use of the Panasonic VariCam camera. The workshop will be taught by Bob Primes, ASC and Ryan Sheridan and are designed to facilitate approximately 40 attendees.

“HD EXPO is honored to be invited to present our ‘VariCamp’ Workshops to the ASC members. We feel that finishing our 2003 tour with the ASC in Los Angeles is the ideal way to finish out the year and kick-off 2004,” stated Kristin Petrovich, Founder of HD EXPO.

HD EXPO developed the “VariCamp” Workshop on the Panasonic VariCam camera in order to encourage the use of high definition programming within the production industry locally. Three prior workshops have taken place this past year in Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. A fifth “VariCamp” Workshop is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on January 22, 23 and 24, 2004 and is open to the general public. HD EXPO and Panansonic’s objective is to educate the production and post production community on the user’s application of the VariCam camera in order to expedite the acceptance, assimilation, use, rental and/or purchase of the Panasonic AJ-HDC27V nationally. Both HD EXPO and Panasonic believe that the need for more resources in the high definition industry is becoming increasingly important; therefore the need for education about the technology and equipment is vital. “The quality of these workshops is outstanding for our products because the attendees at HD EXPO’s event in Los Angeles are going to be those who are genuinely interested in this technology,” states Jeff Merritt, Product Line Business Manager of Panasonic. “The HD EXPO ‘VariCamp’ Workshops will be ideal opportunities to not only spotlight our products but also to educate people in the industry about all that the VariCam is capable of doing.”

Both the one-day private ASC members workshop, as well as the three-day workshop in January will take place in Hollywood at Production Group Studios, a full service high definition, turn-key video production facility, providing everything from facilities, equipment and crews to production office space, field production packages, coordination of services and much more.
