HD EXPO June 6 & 7 at Navy Pier Wrap up
Notes from the Windy City

HD EXPO JuneFor the first time in its six-year history, HD EXPO presented the HD FUNdementals Workshop on June 6th, prior to the expo on June 7th with an overwhelming and exciting response of sold out attendance.

HD EXPO returned to the Midwest on June 6th and 7th with 2 full days of educational workshops, panels and conferences the exhibition hall was a buzz and the INTENSIVE Workshops and panels were well received. By the end of the two-day Expo, the midwestern appetite for professional HD knowledge was clear.

HD EXPO JuneWhile Chicago may be home to Oprah’s Harpo Productions and the Christopher Nolan helmed Batman franchise, the Midwest doesn’t generally have the good fortune of Los Angeles or New York when it comes to immediate industry-related education or product tutorials. With the yearly promise of HD EXPO coming to town, there is obvious reason behind the Expos steady growth in Chicago. Kristin Petrovich, CEO and Founder of HD EXPO, commented “HD EXPO is the only technology expo and conference program to offer this community such a high level of professional education and top tier product expertise. Our success in the Midwest illustrates the need and desire for this level of expertise and education.”

HD EXPO JuneThis was the year HD EXPO Midwest introduced an entire day of education to the event. On Wednesday, June 6th, we produced the HD FUNdamentals workshop, with Petrovich, Aaron Latham (Panavision) and Michael Cioni (Plaster City) taking over 50 attendees through an in-depth introduction of understanding high definition in production and postproduction. The next day, June 7th, was the HD EXPO itself as well as six more INTENSIVE workshops presented by Apple, Avid, Adobe, Quantel and Sony.

HD EXPO JuneReaching over 850 people in attendance and achieving a remarkable 35% increase in registered attendees, HD EXPO has pulled of quite the show. After all, Chicago isn’t as welcoming of a stage as you may think. Petrovich noted, “Chicago is a challenging city to produce a tradeshow and conferences. There are very limited choices in the venue; costs are much higher and it takes a lot of determination to pull the production and advertising community together. That having been said, I believe that we were able to pull the community together and to our surprise, received strong national support from both attendees and exhibitors.”

HD EXPO JuneIf you missed HD EXPO in the Midwest then be sure to mark your calendars for our Flagship Expo in Los Angeles on November 6th an 7th with another 2 full days of education, panels, workshops and exhibits!
