QUANTEL INTENSIVE WORKSHOP: Profitable DI for Commercials
In this intensive AICE member and Quantel DI specialist Milton Adamou, discuses and demonstrates the practical business of Digital Intermediates for commercials.  “DI is much more than just assembly and correction, there are many other parts of the process including pre-visualization, effects, and deliverables.”  Most commercials are traditionally shot on film - at the equivalent of 2K resolution and delivered on SD for broadcast. A growing number of commercials are originated on HD tape.  DI is a process that works with both Film and HD material.   Posting these commercials at HD will not only deliver a better quality SD spot, but also allow it to be re-purposed for the web or even theatrical releases.

In a typical DI for a commercial, I will look at a variety of elements from animatics, offline versions, imported graphics files, VFX work, fixes, grading and versioning.  Anyone attending this intensive will leave knowing how you can get so much more of out the DI process for commercials.  Once producers understand the DI process, they will soon realize the business benefits of posting ‘High’ on a system like Pablo HD.

Parking:
Navy Pier is accessible via a wide variety of public transportation options and also offers on-site parking.

The Lakeview Terrace is on the second floor off of Entrance #2, Lobby 3 towards the east end of Navy Pier. If traveling by taxi, ask to be dropped off in Entrance #2 at the end of the pier. If driving, park in the east garage and follow the signs to the Lakeview Terrace.

Parking at Navy Pier is on a first come, first serve basis. Parking rates at the pier are a flat fee of $19 for up to 24 hours. You will be able to pay for your parking pass at the pay stations located near doors 1, 5, 6, 8, 10 and from the Terminal Building near the Grand Ballroom (directional signage is located throughout the Pier).  In addition, you may pay directly in the exit lanes (credit card only).

Please note the East garage of the Navy Pier parking lot is closest to show site. If main parking lot is full, maps will be distributed to alternate lots.
